Diwali celebrations at Manukau Libraries
|
Later this month Papatoetoe and Pakuranga Libraries will celebrate Diwali, one of the most exciting and vibrant events on the Indian calendar.
Sari wrapping demonstrations, Indian sweet making, henna hand painting and dancing are just some of the colourful unique aspects of Indian and South Asian culture on offer.
Libraries Outreach Coordinator Community Cultures Elenoa Moa Sili-Mati says "Our Diwali celebrations are a great way for the Indian community to share some of its culture with the rest of the city.
"I also encourage our customers, in particular our Indian community, to visit Papatoetoe Library and view their vast collection of Hindi and Punjabi books".
During the week-long celebrations Papatoetoe Library will show DVDs of all things Indian and play Indian music.
