Reflecting on the promos, the star cast and the genre of the film, you won´t be criticized if you ask, what will be so different about Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon? But this time, you will get an answer. No, it won´t be from the repetitive interviews that Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor are dishing out, all of which bear striking resemblance to their previous ones for the umpteenth films released already. It won´t be from the musical score, though that which is of surprising non-element for a film from this banner, it is from the director, the banner and the name. There is a reason Sooraj R. Barjatya´s name rings a bell and even a film as under represented at the box office as Hum Saath Saath Hain can be reputed as a popular family film from the production unit.

There has never been anything quite unique from the unit aside from their mass appealing treatments of the tale they tell, and even with Hum Saath Saath Hain, an accepted musical failure, they made a very watch able film that adds to their list of enjoyable films for their many fans.

With Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, a film they release now, almost four years later, they have not changed their formula barring their unique choice of a music composer (Anu Malik, as opposed to their usual Ram Laxman) and soundtrack style (a complete change in styles from all previous releases). The Barjatya´s know how to target the audiences, and their ensembling of the star cast is just a key point in such. This being one of their first big (grande) releases without Salman Khan, they have brought together Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor for the first time. In any case, their sensitive touches to the dramas have given them their great reputation. With the changes in times, things seem different for this film, perhaps for their invisioning a millennium type star cast, but for their story, nothing has changed, and as they hope, their target audience hasn´t either. One thing is for sure, the Barjatya´s dramas were not everyone´s cup of tea, but they did please many.

Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon is the tale of Sanjana, and as all promotions depict, this is another opportunity at an author backed role for the actress who plays the penultimate main protagonist. Sanjana has fallen in love with Prem (Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan). Sanjana loves her music, and her parrot. As usual, their bubbly attitudes differ, they do things together, but are opposites that attract. Eventually there comes another Prem, the friend of the first Prem. Both share an enormous friendship and discuss life, the ones they love and how one of them is not ready for it (think Na Tum Jaano Na Hum). They share each other´s secrets and are there for each other. Typical supporting cast members like Reema Lagoo (and the not so typical Jaya Bachchan) are also in this cast, with Reema playing Abhishek´s (Prem) mother. After the mandatory romance, song and dance, life´s troubles come in the way and separation is due for Sanjana and Prem, but  as the promos suggest "Sanjana will love Prem till the end". Find out which "Prem" she ends up with when the film releases, and like every fan of the Barjatya group and genre, we all will be anticipating until then.
